Adult education policy shapes the rules for how adult education is experienced by and provided to learners, such as what programs are offered, whether a program can keep its doors open, whether a learner qualifies for support, or whether an instructor's job exists next year. But too often, the people most affected by these decisions — learners, educators, and advocates — are not informed ahead of time or given a chance to weigh in. Policy gets written in a language that keeps most of the field on the outside looking in.

The Access Point is our attempt to close that gap.

Why Now?

Adult education is at a pivotal moment. Funding fights, reauthorization attempts, and shifting politics all directly affect the field — and the people making decisions may not understand what's at stake on the ground. NAFTAE exists to change that: to make sure educators, learners, and advocates aren't just informed about policy, but shaping it.

This blog is one more way we're doing that work. We'll break down what's happening in Washington D.C. and in statehouses. We'll hand you tools to act, not just information to absorb. And we'll make sure the voices of this field — your voices — are part of the conversation, not an afterthought.
